Call for Papers and Workshop Panels

2010 Annual Conference Key Bridge Marriott Hotel, Washington, D.C. 25 February through 27 February, 2010

 

The Australian and New Zealand Studies Association of North America will hold its annual conference in Washington, D.C. from 25 February through 27 February 2010. ANZSANA is a multidisciplinary organization and welcomes papers on any aspect of Australian or New Zealand studies and comparative studies involving Australia, New Zealand, and North America. Consideration will be given, where appropriate, to the submission of a panel or series of papers to journals associated with ANZSANA’s goals and mandate.

The DEADLINE for submission of paper and panel proposals is 10 DECEMBER 2009. Notices of acceptance will be sent no later than 5 January 2010. Paper proposals should include the author’s name and institutional affiliation, the title of the paper, and an abstract of no more than 500 words. They should be attached to an email as either a Word or PDF document. Panel proposals should include similar information as well as suggestions for a moderator or discussant. ANZSANA welcomes submissions from graduate students and offers a limited number of travel grants to facilitate their participation. Graduate students must indicate their status as such in order to be considered for a grant. Please send paper proposals to:

ANZSANA will meet simultaneously with the annual meeting of the American Association of Australian Literary Studies (AAALS). Shared events will include an evening reception on 25 February at the Australian Embassy and a formal banquet on 26 February. More information on ANZSANA and the conference is available at www.anzsana.org. The conference registration fee of $125.00 (either US or CD) includes a one-year ANZSANA membership, the wine and cheese reception on Thursday evening, and lunch on Friday. Participants are also invited to attend a formal banquet dinner on Friday, February 26 at an additional cost. More details on the location and cost of the banquet dinner will be provided soon online at www.anzsana.org.
