Former ALP Leader Kim Beazley has been appointed as the next Australian Ambassador to Washington. Beazley has a deep interest in the US, which was best demonstrated during his tenure a Defence Minister under the Hawke Government. Beazley replaces outgoing Ambassador Dennis Richardson, who will become the next permanent head of Foreign Affairs.
